Perfectly Easy Homemade Deep Fried Mozzarella Sticks | HOW TO - Recipes

Easiest finger food recipe ever!

Deep Fried Mozzarella Sticks
Yields 8-10 sticks

Ingredients
230g (8 oz) Low moisture mozzarella cheese block
60g (1 cup) Panko bread crumbs
1/2 tsp Garlic powder
1/2 tsp Ground black pepper
1/2 tsp Dried parsley flakes
1 Egg
25g (5 tsp) Milk
1/2 tsp Sea salt
50g (1/4 cup) Flour
Vegetable oil, for deep-frying

Method
1. Combine Panko bread crumbs, garlic powder, black pepper and parsley flakes
2. Stir until well mixed, set aside
3. Beat egg, milk and half of the salt until well combine, set aside
4. Stir the remaining half of the salt into the flour, set aside
5. Cut mozzarella block into “index finger size” sticks
6. Dredge cheese in the flour > dip it into egg mixture > coat it in Panko > dip it into egg mixture again > coat in Panko again
7. Place the breaded cheese on a baking try lined with non-stick mat/ parchment paper
8. Put them in the freezer until completely frozen, approx. 3 hours or overnight
9. Heat vegetable oil up to about 170°C (350°F) in a pot
10. Fry cheese a few at a time for about 2 min or until golden brown
11. Drain extra oil on a rack or paper towel

Tips
I. These go well with marinara or your favourite condiments. We love it with ranch and sometimes ketchup in a pinch
II. Breaded cheese sticks must be completely frozen before frying to prevent cheese from bursting out
III. You can make these ahead and freeze them until needed, after they are frozen solid, store them in an airtight bag and keep it in the freezer until ready to fry
IV. We cannot always find low moisture mozzarella blocks, so we “make” them ourselves. Buy shredded mozzarella, make sure it does not have any anti-caking agent in it; you can read the ingredient list. Melt them slowly in the microwave, stir only in 1 direction. Pour the melted cheese into a rectangular container lined with parchment paper and freeze for 30min. Once it has solidified, you can store it back into the refrigerator.
